Bashkir Soda Company to keep developing Shakhtau till 2027

UFA, Sep 9 (PRIME) -- Bashkir Soda Company, whose shares can be nationalized through court, will continue to develop the Shakhtau Barrow below ground waterы until 2027, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

"After a meeting of the board of directors, a decision to develop the Shakhtau mine below the ground water level taking into account economic feasibility of production, environmental safety and legal possibilities has been made," the company said.

President Vladimir Putin earlier criticized owners of the company for not investing the earnings in the region and asked the authorities to check whether the current owners acquired control over company legally. Governor of the republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov earlier signed a prohibition to develop the Kushtau Barrow, making it a nature reserve.
